Stemmed Minds began with a simple frustration: medical language can make young people feel like they are standing outside a locked door. We decided to open it.

Our origin story
A sketchbook, a borrowed laptop, and a group chat full of “wait, but why?”
In 2026, a handful of high-school students started meeting after class to draw the human body in ways that made sense to them. Their first workshop had twelve learners and too many sticky notes. It also had a room full of hands raised.
Today, our student educators design and lead online explorations for younger learners, with guidance from trusted adult mentors. We focus on the parts of medicine that invite a question, not just the parts that need memorizing.
We believe understanding your body is a kind of belonging.
